CVRTF to Compete in the Woodbridge Chili Cook-off
For over twelve years, the Central Valley Rails to Trails Foundation has participated in community events that support local charities and organizations. One of those events is hosted by the Woodbridge Winery, located at the southern end of the proposed rail trail.
Since 2004, Woodbridge has hosted a chili cook-off, which has evolved into the California State Championships and a coveted award that entitles the top three winners to compete in the national championships.
So what does this have to do with a rail trail?
Woodbridge has been a valuable community partner as CVRTF has worked on the plans for the proposed trail, and their event brings in hundreds of San Joaquin County chili tasters – all to benefit the Lodi Public Library. CVRTF has been allowed to host an information booth next to our chili table, which has provided an opportunity to talk about the trail and generate support from residents located throughout the Central Valley.
Besides…it’s fun and we make a mean pot of chili!
The 2012 Woodbridge Chili Cook-off will take place on Saturday, October 20th.
