TrailFest Chili Recipe

It’s Cook-Off Time!

CVRTF has participated in chili cook-offs in communities along the CCTC corridor since 2001. These events provide an opportunity to inform community members on the progress made toward creating the rail trail while showing off our cooking skills!  This year, CVRTF competed in the Wilton Round Up Chili cook-off and won Second Place!  We also organized a successful parade that kicked off the day’s events.

CVRTF  returned to the Woodbridge Winery on October 20, 2007 and created a 5 gallon pot of delicious TrailFest chili for the folks in San Joaquin County.  We were honored to be chosen as the People’s Choice winner, and had enthusiastic interest in the trail concept.  Many thanks to TrailFest Chili Chefs: Betsy, Warren & Andrew Mahan, Kathy Jacobson, Patricia Baker, Darlene & Haley Hauder, Charlotte Fernandez, Cece Henderson and Jim Roxburgh.

WOODBRIDGE CHILI 3

We are pleased to share our 2006 “TrailFest Chili” recipe with you. The recipe is portioned for a chili cook-off, so unless you want to be eating chili for about a month, cut the ingredients by ¼ and that will make approximately 1 gallon.

CVRTF has participated in the Woodbridge Winery Chili Cook-Offs since Oct. 16, 2004, when we won second place as well as the People’s Choice Award! Woodbridge Winery is located at the southern end of the proposed rail trail and will provide a location for one of the main trail-heads.
