CVRTF Board of Directors

The nine CVRTF Board members serve for a minimum of two years, with staggered terms.  Changes to the membership are made by the existing Board.  Appointed officers include the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  Members serve on one or more committees, including Conceptual Plan, Events & TrailFest, Fundraising & Grants, Information Materials & Surveys.   The Board operates in accordance with its Bylaws, consistent with the Foundation’s Mission Statement.  Meetings are held quarterly, on the first Tuesday of July, October, January & April.

Board Members & Officers

President Elizabeth Graves Mahan  (2008-2010)
 
Betsy was re-elected President at the 2009 Annual Meeting.  She is a public affairs/political consultant who resides in Wilton.  Her political career has included directing the government relations department for a major financial institution, several ballot measure and candidate campaigns, and serving on the staff of a U.S. Senator.  Betsy has been active in CVRTF since 2001 serving as the liaison to public officials, and as the webmaster for the CVRTF web site.  She looks forward to riding her horse on the trail and family bike rides.

Vice President Kathleen Jacobson (2009-2011)
Kathy was re-elected Vice President at the 2009 Annual Meeting.   She has been an active member of CVRTF for several years, sharing her skills as a landscape architect to create maps and preliminary trail concepts.  She has also been a member of the TrailFest Chili team.  Kathy is a Landscape Architect for the State of California in Sacramento.  She resides in Galt and is a runner and equestrian.

Treasurer Nancy Myers (2009-2011)
Nancy was re-elected to serve as Treasurer at the 2009 Annual Meeting.  She has been an active CVRTF member since 2002, and as part of the winning team at several chili cook-off’s.  Nancy is an educator, who has been an active  member of the Sheldon Community Association and the Laguna Creek Watershed Council.   She resides in Elk Grove.

Board Secretary Patricia Baker (2009-2011)
Patricia was re-elected to serve as Secretary at the 2009 Annual Meeting.  Her career experience in Inter-Governmental Relations spans 40 years working for the betterment of indigenous Native American Indians throughout California, Alaska and Arizona.  She has served as the Tribal Vice-Chairwoman of the Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians and was the Tribe’s Land Use Planner and Project Director.  She is the Secretary of the Cosumnes River Indian Association water company.  Patricia is a resident of Wilton, and has  been involved in CVRTF since it was first founded.  She serves as the facilities coordinator for the TrailFest event and is a member of the chili competition team.    Patricia looks forward to riding her bike on the rail trail and walking her dog “Blossom”.

Douglas Baker (2008-2010)
Doug was re-elected to the Board at the 2008 Annual Meeting.  He resides in Wilton and is one of the founding members of the Foundation, using his extensive background in grant writing to direct CVRTF’s Fundraising & Grants Committee.  Doug is the founding principal of Acorn Tree Associates, specializing in intergovernmental relations.  He is a certified Economic Development Finance Professional, and a member of the National Development Council since 1991.  He served as a director of local Volunteers of America programs during the 1970’s, and held numerous titles with the State of California, including staff member to Governor Pat Brown.

Dr. Robert Hunter, DVM (2009-2011)
Bob was re-elected to the Board at the 2009 Annual Meeting.  He also serves on the Wilton/Cosumnes CPAC.   A resident of Wilton, he has been the host of the TrailFest event for the past three years, and has been active in the Foundation since 2003.  As owner of the Hunter Stallion Station, and his large animal veterinary practice, Dr. Hunter has been valuable in communicating with local farmers and ranchers on the benefits of creating the trail.

Ron Kampling (2008-2010)
Ron was elected to the Board at the 2008 Annual Meeting.  He is the Director of Guest Services at Mercy General Hospital where he also promotes alternative employee commuting options.  His efforts have been awarded with the EPA’s Best Workplace For Commuters designation.  In 2007, Ron created the Mercy Cycling Club for Mercy employees as a means to promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle.  Today, the club boasts over 100 members.  As the Executive Director of the cycling club, he serves as a member of the City of Roseville Bike Trail Task Force, the Sacramento Bike & Pedestrian Study Group, and the City of Sacramento Community Shuttle Advisory Committee.  Ron is a resident of Roseville.

Ken Press (2009-2011)
Ken was elected at the October 6, 2009 Board meeting to fill the seat recently vacated by Mary Upham.  He is the director of Sacfit, a running and walking club that provides its members individualized marathon and half-marathon training programs.  Ken is also a supporter of programs to benefit the American River Parkway and other community trails.

Jim Roxburgh (2009-2011)
Jim was re-elected to the Board at the 2009 Annual Meeting.  He is a native of Sacramento and has lived in Wilton since 1998.  He is the Vice President for Clinical Services at the River City Medical Group, and the former owner of Fleet Feet Sports in Fair Oaks and Roseville.  Jim co-founded the Tri-for-Fun triathlon series in 1984 and co-directed the American River 50 ultra run for eight years.  He is an avid runner and biker himself.  He has competed in the Western States 100 Mile Ultra-marathon, numerous iron man triathlon competitions, and local bike races.  During the week, he commutes on his road bike to Sacramento.  Jim sees the development of the trail not only as a great recreational opportunity, but as an alternative commuter route to Sacramento.

Honorary Board Member  Mary Upham
President Emeritus & Founder

Mary has been working on the trail project since 1997.  She launched the Foundation in 2000, and has been its inspiration and active participant since that time.  Mary resides in Wilton,  is an equestrian and has been a 4H leader, trail maintenance volunteer, past President of the South County Horsemens Association and CVRTF, and a member of the River City Quilt Guild.  She works for the Facilities & Design Construction Department for the UC Davis Health System, and is a quilt and fiber artist.
